Long live the local print shop! Worth their weight in gold.

I love old family recipes as you know. That workshop must have been so meaningful and fun, too.

I self published a family cookbook several years ago using recipes and photos from the matriarchs of my mom’s line. I introduced each woman at the beginning, including a brief bio/genealogy and a wedding photo since I did have one available for each of them., In all, I think there were 40 recipes, each one accompanied by multiple photos. If I had a handwritten recipe card, I used that, if not I typed it out in standard format. I ended up having 16 copies made and gave them to family as gifts. I did save the file and plan on printing more to have available when my grands come of age.

What a fabulous project, Lori, thanks so much for sharing how you approached the content that you put together. A wonderful way to honor the matriarchs! How did you handle the printing, did you go through an online service or work with a print shop to produce the books?

I actually made it as a hard cover Apple photo book, which was super easy. The finished product is durable, the cover is wipeable and generally everything from photo clarity and color to binding is much better quality than other online services I’ve used.
